Skarbek's new book, The Puzzle of Prison Order: Why Life Behind Bars Varies around the World, won the "Outstanding Book Award" from the International Section of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. The award is given for the best book published in the previous year on topics relating to international or comparative crime or justice. The Academy of Criminal Justice, one of the two large criminology and criminal justice associations, is an international association established in 1963 to foster professional and scholarly activities in the field of criminal justice sciences.
