Philosophy, Politics and Economics Honors Society
The Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Honors Society (PPE Society) is both a scholarship and learning opportunity for students at Brown to investigate social science and political philosophy while engaging with similarly dedicated students, faculty, and visiting researchers.
Recipients earn a $500 stipend per semester that they participate in the PPE Society. Students must fulfill all formal requirements in order to receive funds at the end of each semester. Scholarships are renewable for each year that a student remains enrolled at Brown for a maximum of 4 consecutive years (possible $4,000 total).
During each semester, PPE scholars participate in a guided reading and discussion group, meeting approximately every other week while classes are in session. Readings are selected with the aim of deepening the group's appreciation and understanding of theories and research relevant to that semester's guest presentations via Odyssey lectures, the PPE seminar series, and or Janus Forum events. PPE scholars will also have unique opportunities to meet visiting scholars hosted by the PTP and participate in more intimate sessions of dialogue and inquiry.
In the Fall 2020 semester, PPE Society members will be discussing the topic "Should the U.S. Supreme Court be Reformed?" as well as reading related theory and research.
Meetings will be held via zoom. All are welcome to attend and participate.
